The inability to travel made me divert my attention to what explorations I could do within Singapore. These took the form of visits to our nature parks and trails. This gave me a renewed appreciation of our natural heritage. 

On one occasion, I had the opportunity to glimpse the elusive and endangered raffles banded langurs. Elated by the encounter, I decided I had to paint them. I wanted to use my paintings of the langurs to raise awareness of the existence of these beautiful creatures here in Singapore, to encourage people to treasure them. I named this painting "a future" because I wanted to have them as part of Singapore's future. That there would be a future and shared home for us all.
