Artist: Cassandra Tan

My first piece, Mahjulah Singapura, was an attempt to explore what is like being a Singaporean by creating a collage of Singapore’s landscape. I used infrastructures from different eras of Singapore which helps gives a taste of both past and present. Showcasing a statement that we can live in harmony despite our differences. I have also infused a little quirky design style like the Merlion wearing a mask, to give a little surprised element in my collage. Despite this COVID pandemic thats has hugely affected everyone’s quality of life negatively including myself, there is a sliver lining that comes out of this pandemic, quality time. I decided to use bright colours and textures to portray the enjoyable and happy moments build among families and friends during this difficult time.
