Born in 1969, Teresa Rao graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, China, in 1989. To pursue her dream as a professional artist, Rao settled in Singapore in 2017 from Macau. Through personal experience of Singapore’s way of life and its culture, Rao reinterpreted her findings and understandings onto her canvases, portraying them in surrealism form.
 
In 2018, Rao won Gold Award, Painting Category, at the Asian Arts Festival, as well as the Outstanding Mentor Award. She has also won numerous awards throughout her professional career as a painter. Rao’s paintings have been exhibited at the Singapore Heart Sutra exhibition, National Day Art Exhibition, and Singapore Women Artist Art Exhibition. The paintings were well received and collected.
